“When we demeanour during Alexander a Great and a Great Depression, it’s possibly a commencement or a finish of something or someone significant,” Emily Current suggested exclusively to Style.com of her latest try alongside Meritt Elliott. “And for us, that’s what this section was.” Launching for Spring ’15, their new lifestyle brand, The Great, draws on a pair’s singular brew of pattern extraction and knowledge as stylists. Their Spring ’15 collection starts them on a right path, with an endearing brew of ultrafeminine pieces (think ruffles, swing-back detailing, and an electric watermelon-colored accent) and manly hoyden designs in a figure of army-surplus references, and loose, slouchy fits. “We always anxiety a girl’s chronicle of RRL, wearable where all has a good palm to it,” Elliott added.

That graphic touch, and apt hand, is accurately what Current and Elliott wish will impersonate this latest try from a market. “Because we’ve been stylists for so long, we’ve fit so many opposite physique types, we’re usually really sold about how things fit,” Elliott explained of their play on proportions, chain of pockets, and courtesy to a fact of hems. “We’re really wakeful of what a lady wants to feel like in her clothes,” she reasoned. The designs are not usually heightened by their knowledge as stylists to a likes of Jessica Alba and Emma Roberts, though their time as collectors, too. All of a line’s prints have been engineered off of a selected prints they’ve been collecting given they met 20 years ago.

“In a hearts, we’re jeans-and-T-shirt girls, so all goes behind to that,” Elliott pronounced of their L.A.-based business. An always-relevant army coupler is reimagined with a pitch back. The simplest tee now sports a stormy hemline, vintage-feeling tulle and edging are interconnected behind to a tyrannise stripe, and clever knits are usually as benefaction as menswear stripes—and always, with their signature clarity of frolic and charm. Formerly of Current/Elliott, a span also devise to revisit their roots and embody denim in their Fall ’15 mix.
